Chavi Clark went into the room to find an unfriendly Italian woman with alzheimers named Miss Brown. After Chavi’s CNA (certified nursing assistant) explained who Chavi was and why she was here, Miss Brown still acted skeptical and apprehensive. Chavi, now determined, continued to gather more background information on her patient to better understand and care for Miss Brown.
After talking and bonding with Miss Brown and making the time to walk with her, Chavi got Miss Brown’s attention. Miss Brown would ask about Chavi and began to follow her on her duties. On her last day of clinicals, Chavi kindly went to see Miss Brown to take her for one last walk before she left.
They had bonded so much, that Miss Brown left Chavi with the promise that she would bake Chavi cookies. Chavi knew that this wouldn’t happen, but the thought made Chavi realize that she will always remember Miss Brown.
